Open documents side by side, in tabs, or on a free canvas, and switch layouts without losing your place. Each file carries a marker until you have opened it, so what you have not read yet is visible rather than remembered.

Mark what matters as you read
Highlight a passage, or draw a box around part of a scan or diagram, and it becomes an annotation that knows its page: coloured by meaning, tagged, commented, and dated from the dates the page itself contains.

Let the chronology build itself
Dated highlights assemble into a chronology as you read, filterable by date range, colour, and tag. Thin stretches look thin, and a tag with nothing behind it is a question worth asking.

Write it up, sourced
Draft reports and memos in the built-in editor. Paste a highlight and it arrives as a citation; export, and every reference points back to its page, with the cited pages attached as an appendix.
